This is a DKMS problem. It was compiling using the current running
kernel, i.e. the old one, rather than using the new kernel. I removed
all headers except for latest kernel and it still compiled against old
kernel. Eventually had to blacklist module for telephony card so I could
boot into new kern
Will I need to do anything to get the Dahdi-dkms working ? I did try a
mainline kernel (3.2.0-49 I think) but phone card did not pick up or
make any calls, I assume it wasn't recognised or driver was missing.

If I boot on 3.2.0-43 kernel all works, any later kernels freeze. i have
HP ProlIant ML110 G6 server running 12.04 LTS. I have 2 of these servers
which I keep in sync. One has an OpenVox A400E telephony card in, this
one crashes, the identical server except for this card works
