Reporting after a long time, but the s2idle=deep does not really fix anything.
Just made it less frequent if at all. Since then I have upgraded to 20.04 and
the issue is there.
I have essentially given up on using any kind of power management on this
laptop under Ubuntu.

The "deep" mem_sleep approach works for me. I also downgraded to
vanialla 19.10 kernel before trying this. Not sure if it also works with
5.4 kernel. Will try this weekend.
Earlier I was making a mistake in writing "deep" into mem_sleep. Just
sudo echo deep > /sys/power/mem_sleep does no
Also tried with 5.3 kernel that shipped with 19.10 and I see only "deep"
in /sys/power/mem_sleep.

I too have an Acer Swift 3 314-57 with Core i5 and an NVMe 512GB disk. I too
