Kernel 6.5.6 is fixing the issue: Hamza Mahfooz (1): drm/amd/display:
fix the ability to use lower resolution modes on eDP
When is this fix being backported to Ubuntu's kernel? It's very
disappointing that this is not addressed by the devs.

@Ubuntu-devs: Is this bug going to be fixed or what's going to happen
here? I cannot change display resolutions - this is a major regression!

Yes, it still happens with mesa 23.2.1-1ubuntu2. Additionally, it is not
only with video fullscreen. Same happens if I start synaptic for
example. Sometimes it hangs for 10 seconds too. Seems to affect multiple
applications and is triggered by multiple ways.

Hi,
Switching a video to or from fullscreen freezes the screen for around 10
seconds. This happens with Totem as well as VLC so its not related to a
specific app.
Additional observations:
- The issue seems to be connected to the video's bitrate. With low
bitrate videos I ca

With Ubuntu Mantic, Linux 6.5 and Radeon 680M low resolution mode on
hiDPI laptop displays is broken. The only resolution I can set is
3840x2400. Setting any lower resolution leads to display corruptions.
So at the moment, only one resolution can be used with hiDPI displays.

I think it might be due to a ath11k bug [1]. If this is the bug, please
include the patch in the next kernel update.

Thanks for working on that bug but I have to say that this is
ridiculous. A kernel update gets pushed with a mayor regression that
breaks Wifi and it takes over one month to fix that. The fix for this
issue didnt even land for 19.10 so far. This is just bad.
