This kernel update crashes my old machine (Intel Core i3-540, H55
chipset) solid on boot. It needs to be powercycled. Selecting the
previous kernel (3.13.0-139) in grub revives the machine.

I know that this is an old ticket etc, but:
I also have this card and use it in a laptop that's running Ubuntu
16.04. Meanwhile it's 16.04.3 rather than .1, but that's by the by.
The card works fine for me using the Hardware Enablement kernel.
