sound has somehow been fixed since i set 'sound settings...' -->
'Output' --> 'Play sound through' to 'Headphones Built-in Audio' two
days ago - now sound works fine in all games, browsers and applications
in general

not sure if this may be a cause of the problem, but, just for the
record, i am with gnome-session-flashback latest version, which has not
been upgraded for about 2 years

it has turned out that the problem persists even with the older versions
of linux-firmware (1.157.11 and 1.157.10) - i tried with them today
what i did was:
sudo dpkg -i linux-firmware_1.157.11_all.deb
sudo reboot
and nothing changed
then:
sudo apt-get remove linux-firmware
sudo apt-get install
the issue definitely affects the sound, which is why i set alsa-driver
as affected
the version of linux-firmware was 1.157.11 before the fatal update
here i attach a file with kernel ring buffer(dmesg) messages
