The Intel 82574L Gigabit NIC, and probably others, drop RX packets.
There are multiple reports, even though it's a hard one to pin down.
This is most noticeable in ssh sessions. The errors show up as
"dropped

After upgrade to 12.04 LTS, resume after suspend results in no networking.
Unchecking "enable networking" and rechecking does nothing.
ifup/ifdown do nothing.
Networking can be restored with:
# sudo rmmod e1000e
# sudo insmod
/lib/modules/3.2.0-56-generic/kernel/drivers/net/
Same issue here. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. e1000e. Kernel 3.2.0-56-generic.
