I booted with kernel 3.11.0 which is the earliest I found that exhibits
this problem. I am attaching the dmesg log.

I should add that trying the Ubuntu saucy kernel on an existing
installtion of 13.04 , also exhibits the problem and makes the system
unbootable. So it will also affect people who are going to upgrade from
13.04.
It seems the problem is in the kernel.

Adding to the previous reports, I can confirm that it still exists on
latest saucy daily image (October 1 2013). Blank screen during
installation, nothing proposed in this thread or over the internet can
help.
This should be of high priority as obviously affects a lot of people.
