The problem seems to have gone away. I don't know when it was fixed for me, has
there been a recent kernel update?
After reporting this bug I reinstalled using kubuntu installer, but later
switched to mate desktop. I do know the problem was still present after
installing kubuntu, but it has gone
I'm sorry for the late response. This problem only happens when I use my
docking at work, but I usually only have time for playing around at home, where
there's no docking.
Unfortunately the bug also exists in the mainline kernel.

My laptop is mostly connected to a docking station in my office. If the
computer is docked when booting, the USB devices (keyboard, mouse) are
not detected. If I remove the computer from docking and then reinsert
everything works as expected. Monitors and network connected to
