I just tried running three 1080p movies and one 1080p youtube video. In
Ubuntu the temperature got up to 98 degrees celsius and the laptop shut
down. In Windows 7 the temperature stayed between 87-91 degrees during
the same test.

nvidia card in BIOS but adjusting the brightness still does not work.

My BIOS seems up-to-date to me, that's why I've removed the bios-outdated tag.

I just tested it with Ubuntu 13.10 (Kernel 3.11.0-12-generic x64) and
the issue is still present. I don't see the point of testing it with
3.12 rc7 since there hasn't been any activity upstream since the last 6
months.

No log files needed for this bug. I can confirm that this is a valid
issue. The /boot partition is 228M in my case which is way too small
compared to the size of a kernel image/header.
