Hi Stephane, or anyone else affected,
I have some test packages that contain the fix:
get_cachename_from_process_env((env_probe && (arg->upcall_target ==
UPTARGET_APP || arg->upcall_target == UPTARGET_UNSPECIFIED)) ? arg->pid
: 0);
in the following ppa:
https://launchpad.net/~mruffell/+archive/
Confirming the same behavior on my MacBookPro14,1:
* 6.14.0-15-generic boots but built-in keyboard and trackpad are dead
* 6.12.0-rc2 does not boot
* 6.12.0-rc3 does not boot (see attached video; looks like a kernel oops in
intel_lpss_pci)
* 6.11 boots with working built-in keyboard and track
Hi Stephane,
I am speaking with Bharath and other cifs-utils developers.
They are suggesting we can fix it with:
get_cachename_from_process_env((env_probe && (arg->upcall_target ==
UPTARGET_APP || arg->upcall_target == UPTARGET_UNSPECIFIED)) ? arg->pid
: 0);
I agree that it should fix the issue

After upgrading to Ubuntu 24.04 with kernel `6.8.0-40-generic`, the
touchpad of my ASUS X555UB laptop stopped working completely.
## What I observed:
- `xinput list` only shows Xwayland pointers, no touchpad.
- `libinput list-devices` (with sudo) does not show the touchpad at

I created a machine with noble using multipass, and I checked that for Noble
the suggestion still exists:
ubuntu@ubuntu2404:~$ apt show linux-image-6.14.0-1007-oracle|grep fdutils
WARNING: apt does not have a stable CLI interface. Use with caution in
scripts.
Suggests: fdutils, linux-oracle-6.14
Tested with Ubuntu mainline build 6.15.0-061500-generic on
MacBookAir6,2. @vicamo: plucky's kernel is broken, but 6.14.2 was
already booting properly on MBA, so hopefully fixes will be pulled in
soon. You can use the mainline builds in the meantime.
