This can be strange since it's a group of utilities for floppy disks, and maybe
there are people who could install thinking there are benefits doing it when
probably there are none.

I retested the dm9601 adapter on two amd64 systems running kernels 6.8
and 6.14.
On both it only reached 6 Mb/s instead of 100 Mb/s and I saw kernel
messages 'unexpected tiny rx frame'.
