Same problem on my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 4th Gen. since I have upgraded
Ubuntu from 22.04 LTS to 24.04.1 LTS.
As for comment #14, disabling the TTL chip in the security tab in the BIOS
works for me (kernel 6.8.0-47-generic).

I confirm that brightness is broken in Dell OptiPlex 7780, Kernel
6.11.0-9-generic, and Ubuntu 24.10. The workaround proposed in #13 does
not work for me.
