Current version of amdgpu binaries in linux-firmware shipped with ubuntu
22.04 (jammy) and ubuntu 23.10 (mantic) create various problems when
decoding VP9 content with the iGPU on modern AMD mobile processor
(rembrant and phoenix, i.e. 6xxxU/H, 7x40U/H and 7x35U/H processor).
Subscribing Canonical desktop team to get their input.
Basically the ask is to ship this file:

I believe if we do it should be shipped in procps; or possibly, gamemode

with 545 and 550.
Steps to reproduce:
- Run window manager or desktop environment without compositor manager.
For example XFCE with Settings – Window Manager Tweaks – Compositor and
disable Enable displ
Update:
Since release of 6.8.0-20.20 real machine (XPS13) seems to be working fine.
VMs are still hanging.
Short testing showed that the issue is caused by RAM starvation.
Booting LiveCD or Desktop should consume ~1.2GB but under 6.8, it starts with
~2GB usage and keeps going up.

As mentioned above, this turns out to have been a Chrome/Chromium bug
exposed by the new kernel. It has been fixed in Chrome 123, which is now
the stable release. This issue can be closed.
