and this can wreck your HW please read this as an anecdotal experience.
When you overclock RAM you need to change other stuff in order to stabilize
the system.
This thing can happen due to multiple factors.
I was running a 1800X. Freezes ocurred in 24-48h of uptime. Disabling Global
C-State or enabling typical power idle in UEFI stopped those freezes. The
latter option disables PC6 on top of using 0.85V idle voltage. To disable PC6
you need a cold boot

I have a Ryzen 1700X and I'm heavily affected by the problem. Default
kernel parameters: lockups every 1-2 days. With "processor.max_cstate=5

I've submitted a fix to the input maintainers. I've been running this
since the 23rd and it seems to be fine. No need to pass any params to
the driver to change the protocol or anything like that.
It's yet to be reviewed but since it's a single line change I'd hope

I sometimes get the jitter too but I've yet to find a reliable way to
reproduce it.
I also get low speed jitter where the packets reported to the interrupt
handler don't have new x and y coords but the pressure is changing. This
results in jerkiness at very low speed which I can reliably reproduce
since this bug is fixed in nouveau and the last responses here are all
related to the nvidia driver can we close this bug?
If people are having issues with the nvidia driver they should contact

@Jayden: Did you verify the image? Ubuntu 20.04 worked on my 14IIL05, of
course without touchpad. I know that all that is something off topic,
but we should clarify that very fast, so we know, if Jaydens Problem has
something to do with the Touchpad problem.

For mainline that's too risky, because there has been a number of
different symptoms of ASPM-related problems. And it would take time to
assemble a blacklist, in the meantime users would complain about network
problems.
