Like many of you out there I totally disagree with the decision to mark
this bug as invalid. I myself am running newer hardware that requires
support from kernel 12.x and can now only use compatible kernels like
the ones produced by tux-invader, not the ones on the mainline ppa.

To find the fixing commit, we need to do a reverse bisection:
First, find the first -rc kernel works and the last -rc kernel doesn’t
work from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
Then,

$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.g

Hi,
I have done longer testing of kernel 140 and it has performance
degradation issue as well. It took a couple of days to fully max out
disk IOs on that kernel with the same load. Therefore, I came back to
testing the other kernels in longer time-window.
At the moment, I'm running kernel 4.15.0-
Just logging in to say I have this too. Any current workarounds?
Interestingly I noticed that this problem only exists in connecting to my wifi
router. If I use a 4G wifi hotspot device, the connection is stable.
