Renaming the artefacts was a compromise. the other option was to not
publish them at all.
d-i artefacts will not exist for 20.10 release, nor for 20.04.1 release,
on any architecture. Thus renamed d-i artefacts is a transitional period
of ~3 months until 20.04.1 is released.

I'm not finding much in the logs. There's some i915 splat which could
possibly be related to the corruption, but nothing to explain the hard
lockup.
The current focal-proposed kernel (5.4.0-24) has some fixes for
races/deadlocks in i915, so it's worth trying that out to see if it
helps. You can us
Hi Seth, sorry for my late response.
I did more tests this morning on my laptop tracing the callers of
__alloc_pages_nodemask() and I noticed that pretty much all the time it
is called by the i915 shrinker. So I tried to disable it and I have to
say that on my laptop (at least) the system is alway

If I read the comments correctly, virt-install --location isn't supported
anymore for the 20.04 default installer.
It would work however for the d-i installer, if virt-install would employ
current/legacy-images as suffix to the

First of all, both examples from comment #3 work (subiquity also
installs that way).
I guess it's obvious that the '--location' doesn't work with the directory tree
anymore due to the change in the URL from

Agreed @cborntra, if that is your use case then those two ways are not
equivalent.
Then for now I only know of the "workaround to specify kernel/initramfs
directly" that you are aware of as well.
Let's see what feedback Andrew gets when asking to change the path back.

Unfortunately this won't work with our preseed files.
ERRORKernel arguments are only supported with location or kernel
installs.
