Verified on node amaura with kernel 4.15.0-23.25 and 4.15.0.26.28, they
both works fine with the qrt_apparmor test.

I had this same problem with my laptop on 17.10. When I upgraded to the kernel
to 4.14 I did not receive the errors in the syslog, but the touchpad
responsiveness and functionality worked fine.
When I upgraded to 18.04 with kernel 4.15.0-24 it looks like it has regressed

I'm happy to report that I was able to boot normally with gdm now, and
it didn't get stuck. Yesterday I removed and reinstalled gdm3 and
ubuntu-desktop, as suggested here, rebooted, but it was still the same
(i.e. stuck in reboot), so I switched back to lightdm. Today when I

Ok uploaded different dmesgs for the same kernel when the touchpad is working
and not. (Two examples of when it's working)
When it's not working, the computer won't reboot/halt either.
Took me about 10-12 reboots to get one boot when it's working.
