I have tried this script, modified to use wlp16s0. It reports 'Power
save: off' on both entry and exit and has no apparent effect. Still no
firmware load, and ifconfig -a shows no inet address.

I've tried this with the proposed xenial 4.11.0-13 kernel and it seems
to be working for me. I'm running a Precision 7510 with bios 1.13.6 . I
initially had a problem where the network card wasn't showing up, but
re-read earlier posts about disabling the thunderbolt dock security
feature in the BIO
Waiving the verification-needed-xenial, since this was originally
reported against linux-lts-xenial (no known xenial test installation
exists). Will ask the original reporter to re-verify the fix in linux-
lts-xenial.
