Wow Mike, thanks to your comment I realized I had the exact same problem
with my Logitech M210 wireless mouse. I notice that it seems the
majority of other reports here also are reported using Logitech mice, so
this particular issue may very well be a chronic Logitech mouse problem
and not software
I created a separat issue in the lightdm tracker but could not link it
properly, here is the link:

Thanks for the help, as for a third kernel bug being hunted down
(https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=196415), would it be
possible to get a 4.13-rc3 kernel with CONFIG_ACPI_DEBUG turned on?
The patch in this case has been included in 4.13-rc3.
Should I create a new bug ?

This bug affected me with Ubuntu 17.04 on a Dell D630 laptop as well. I
applied the workaround that was suggested on the mentioned Arch forum
thread (disabling S-video). Add "video=SVIDEO-1:d" to the kernel boot
options in /etc/default/grub:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash video=SVIDEO-1:
Looking closer at my dmesg that happens for me too (see attached file)

I also compiled linux kernel 4.10.17 with your patch.
Using your patch causes crashing of the "i2c_designware" driver (see
attachment).
I also tried the current Linux kernel commit (=> 4.13), with the same result.

Thanks, I'm on the same BIOS version. Compiling for the 4.10.0-28 kernel
did not help in my case:

Wonder if there might be something with the kernel versions... can you
try applying the intel-lpss-pci patch on top of an unpatched Ubuntu 4.10
kernel? I tested the patch with 4.10.0-28-generic here
