Running freshly configured Ubuntu 16.04 off an OCZ SSD on a Dell Optiplex 760.
Does not find Wifi dongle following reboot.
Workaround seems to be going into the edit connections screen and telling it to
save the wifi password again. That and, (or?) unplugging and then replugging
the wifi dongle.
It is not easy for me to test with the mainline kernel as I have the
AMDGPU drivers installed. Is there a way I can create a live-usb with
the mainline kernel and test using that?

i tested the latest mainline kernel "4.8.0-040800rc5-generic".
Unfortunately, nothing changed; still, the graphical interface displays
"bluetooth is disabled".
Can you give me an advice on what to do now?
Do you need more outputs?
And should I deinstall the mainline kernel?

It can be read in SR-IOV companion guide that 82599 chipsets :
* The 82599 has 128 Transmit and 128 Receive queues. They are generally
referred to/thought of as queue pairs (1 Transmit and 1 Receive queue). This
gives the 82599 128 queue pairs.
and 4.4.20-040420-generic now includes the xenbus bug...
