Public bug reported:
I have suddenly had critical problems at boot on my asus X99-S
motherboard with INTEL I7-5280K CPU and MSI NVIDEA GTX970 graphics card.
The USB Keyboard and mouse are not operational once I get to the XUBUNTU
login screen. They work during the bios setup.
I am on XUbuntu 16.

VMS into a cpuset by default. I assume docker does the same. (My
xenial laptop runs upstart, so this is not systemd's doing)

Christopher, done. badblocks test completes without errors on Ubuntu
12.04 (3.5.0-48).
My short test example:
badblocks -wsv -e 1 -t 255 /dev/mmcblk0 1 4000
* read-only tests doesn't detect any issues;
* write-test pattern 0xff (-t 255) is much more efficient then first two
default patterns

P.S. Before I was going to test the new Kernel, the packages updated to
4.4.0-25-generic, and it seems the issue is fixed.
Again, thank you for your time!
