Is it OK if I do the bisection procedure trying different kernels (as I
did previously) instead of a whole distribution?
I have no way of testing whether the bug exists in a particular kernel
or not, so I simply use my computer and wait for it to appear. Testing
on a live cd would not be practical

I tested with linux-headers-4.4.0-040400 / linux-

4.4.0-040400.201601101930. The kernel lockups did *not* reproduce.
Two caveats:

The issue has existed for all kernel versions that I've tried.
When I try to install from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4-wily/, I get a warning
that the lib/firmware/bnx2x/bnx2x-e2-7.12.30.0.fw for module bnx2x is
missing. And the NIC won't come up.

I have been using kernel 4.4.0-040400-generic for a few days without any

Driver update in Kernel 4.2 causes severe usability issues with Cypress
touchpad (cyapa) used on Acer C7x0 chromebooks.
The driver in question is ignoring events during entering/leaving idle
- status which from user standpoint seems like touchpad is not reacting to
Ok, I will try to boot and reboot more often. I did it now around 10
times and it always came up perfectly. With the other kernels, it would
not boot in 1 out of 3 tries at least.
