I built a Wily test kernel with those three patches. The patches also
required three prerequisite commits, so the test kernel has the

Have had the new BIOS running for a week and have seen the issue recur
several times.
Current workaround is to boot up, and then open [ System Properties -->
Mouse and Touchpad ] mouse properties, where i will only see General
(and not Touchpad). I then close the lid

think we've found the smoking gun. Below is a simple patch to the tigon
device driver if you prefer not to use the udev rule solution.

because of ubuntu's freezes.) There were no crashes.

Reboot Ubuntu, don't login. Let the device go to hibernate/sleep.

After some more testing, it appears to be a hardware problem!
So the ticket can be closed.
It was confusing to find out because some functionality still works, and
that the malfunction coincided with the ubuntu upgrade.

that has lxd available (it's not yet available in trusty nor the PPA for
arm64).

FTR, I'm also having problems with the wily arm64 kernel on multi-CPU
