With some further digging, I have discovered this is an ELAN1000
touchpad which uses the `i2C` bus instead of the `PS/2` bus which
requires different firmware.
The UX305CA apparently does not even have a PS/2 bus physically
installed. Only the I2C bus.

This issue has always been happening, even on the Wily 15.10 live cd.
Since I installed Ubuntu from the 15.10 disk, and then upgraded to
Xenial 16.04, there have not been any kernel versions that do not work,
both kernel 4.3.0-2, and kernel 4.2.0-22 hang after a while.

Bug description:
As per bug 72189
I got this issue after trying to install the nvidia-352 driver on my laptop (an
optimus setup with both an Intel iGPU and a NVidia GPU).
I then uninstalled the NVidia driver, but it still doesn't fix the problem,
which is mysterious.
