computer no longer freezes every 15 minutes due to the driver. I am
also using the new firmware by renaming it to rtl8192eefw.bin (comment
#315). I see no problem with down/up speed, and stability is reasonable

I'm having the same issue. When I install 14.04.1, sound works (3.13
kernel). When I manually update to 3.16 kernel to fix touchpad issues,
it breaks the sound. When I do a vanilla install of 14.10 (3.16), no
sound at all. I guess I should try 3.15 and see if I can get both
working!

Hi,
I installed Ubuntu 14.10 but it wouldn't boot, it took several hours to
get a working system. I've managed, but I'd just like to document this
because I couldn't find any relevant writeups online and the problem
seems so simple that I'm surprised it just didn't work out o
apparently fixed in linux-image-3.18.0-12-generic 3.18.0-12.13 (rebased
to 3.18.4)
