I was not able to reproduce the issue with the 3.17 kernel. The system
woke up fine after each of several lid-closed and idle-time suspends.

The Trusty kernel now has the 3.13.11.6 upstream updates. However, as
suggested by dualshock3nerd in comment #59, the bug may never have been
introduced in mainline, only trusty.
It would be great if you could apply the latest trusty updates, to get
the 3.13.11.6 updates and see if this bug still
I'll try upstream kernel, and I will try previous release. Only utopic
kernel releases, or also trusty ones?

The bug has been fixed in -proposed.
Performed the test in the bug description. The `128` file accurately
points to a 128 bytes long filename. Double-checked that the file system
was actually using -O inline_data. Disk usage reflects it as well:
# du ext4{,_inline}/test{/*,}
4 ext4/test/128
