Another i915 user running KDE here: I started experiencing the exact
problems after the package pushes on 2/20.

Joseph Salisbury, after reporting this bug I tried changing some
settings in alsamixer but it didn't seem to fix the issue. Then, after
a reboot it started working although I didn't notice straight away so
I'm not exactly sure what has made it work. This also happened on 13.10
