i am having all sorts of weird things happening with this nic as well in
Xubuntu 13.10. Sometimes websites cant even be resolved like github.com. It's
very strange, it's autoloading the r8169 driver but my chipset is

If I had HDMI turned off to start with, your method would not turn it
on. There was no error message in the complete process following your
instruction, but HDMI display shows 'no signal'.

After booting the Ubuntu Live CD nightly build from 2014-01-29, Linux
3.13, I am not getting responses to dhcp.
Running tcpdump on the affected machine, I can see packets coming in, I
can see the DHCP packets going out, but I can't see any response to
these DHCP packets.
So
As far as I can tell, this is fixed in 14.04.
However, as networking in 14.04 using my e1000e base adaptor appears to
be broken, my testing was restricted (appeared to receive packets but
not send anything). I couldn't install the ir-keytable package required
for testing.
I ended up booting 14.04

Hello,
On a fresh and updated install of Kubuntu 14.04 LTS (developpement
version) with yesterday's CD image on a computer which has nVidia
Optimus, I installed the nvidia proprietary driver with the jockey-kde
graphical user interface. It did install nvidia-settings. However
3.13.0-6-generic#23~precise2 on dell e6500:
wifi still works only when apparmor is de - activated (apparmor=0).
As mentioned above, the corresponding mainline kernel (3.13.1-031301-generic
from v3.13.1 (trusty)) works including wifi.
