Hi,
You need to give us more details about which bug you are trying to fix. It
should be on a KDE program you know quite well. You need to reproduce the bug
and well understand it for a start. Then try to track the bug down in the code,
for example by adding a few kDebug calls and recompiling t
. Even 1 single patch for a newcomer can be the result of a few hours of
hard work.

Learning Qt is of course a good start. What you can also do is go to
bugs.kde.org and look for JJ bugs to fix.
Also ask the Amarok people for easy things to do. You will get started quicker
if you do things besides of studying the book (which is a very good one).

- improve an existing program: send a few patches to the developers or use
reviewboard.kde.org and you will be granted svn/git access after that
