if the problem is indeed the VLC backend, then it also works to go to
/home/dh/kde/kf5/build/kdesupport/phonon/phonon-vlc and type `make uninstall`

"Can't update" usually means you are missing subversion, git, or bazaar
which are used to get copies of the source code. Check the error.log for
the projects you are getting these errors on, that should tell you what you
need. "Can't configure with cmake" means you are missing dependencies,

Most of the default stuff won't build because of various errors like
"can't update" or "can't configure with cmake". Can someone email me a
working kdesrc-buildrc that is known-good? I'm particularly interested
in building plasma-desktop.
