While I didn’t have and crashes, customizing the desktop did cause my
machine to freeze every so often prior to installing/using wallpaper
engine.

What should my next steps be for troubleshooting? I am still stuck with no
gui and when I use ctrl alt f3 it just shows a black screen instead of the
konsole.
