I got it to load under Tellico 3.4.1. The culprit was a mal-formed XML file.
Steps to fix:
1. Extract the XML file.
2. Loaded XML file into XML editor (I used XML Copy Editor) from the Ubuntu
repos.
3. Validated

Ran all updates.
Uninstalled kpat through synaptic.
Rebooted.
Discoverer shows all up to date.
Installed from Flathub.
"Aborted due to failure."

Interesting. I've had the core fonts installed for years and did a reinstall
before reporting this just to be sure. I currently show version 3.7ubuntu6
installed.

Okay, there's something else going on here. I removed the core fonts from
Synaptic, removed the core fonts directory from the cl and then reinstalled
them from the cl. I watched them download and agreed t

That clue helped. Something has installed a font called "Twitter Color Emoji
[1]" on my system. I do not use Twitter. I disabled the font and re-opened
the non-working files and they render cor
