Update: I found out that this bug only occurs when file search is disabled.
This makes it a much more minor issue – but still a problem users may ran into.

Maybe I need to change my opinion. I now think that the menu bar is not
suitable as the (only) place for features that you need to access very
frequently. You would have to keep the menubar visible at all times

2) show menu bar (Ctrl + m)

"Breath" Plasma Theme ("Breeze" works fine for me as well!).

Ah, you are right – if I add the weather widget to the desktop, it is NOT added
to the appletsrc config file in the first place! It will just update some
coordinates, but does not create a new entry for the
