starting firefox with `GTK_USE_PORTAL=0 firefox` (instead of with
GTK_USE_PORTAL=1 as I use to) does not prevent this bug to appear with firefox.

I can confirm this issue. Here, copying from spectacle into the clipboard works
fine (as shown by Klipper), pasting fails for Chrome (XWayland), Krita
(XWayland). Pasting does work for Firefox (XWayland), Dophin

After update to 5.22.3 pasting images into krita (xwayland) works fine, pasting
into Chrome (91.0, XWayland) still fails.
