My understanding is that 13-digit ISBN values for books all start with 978 or
979. Is there anything about the book that would make it non-standard?

The ISBN is 5800-1344-1985-4.
I have tried both pasting it in, as well as entering it digit by digit.
When I get to the ninth digit, Tellico generates the checksum digit (tenth for
a 10-digit ISBN) and blocks farther e

I can't reproduce any problem. What ISBN are you entering (978- or 979-?) and
how are you entering it? (typing one digit at a time, copy/paste, etc)?
