After sudo apt-get update, some updates and restarts I was finally able to
change the driver through the driver manager. Still, I think there needs to be
done something:

I should probably mention that I had to do an offline install, because the
installer didn't recognize my USB Wi-Fi adapter. This may have affected my
ability to use the proprietary drivers.
