Bad news Nate, I didn't take a backup, and i regretted it the second i deleted
the second file. Worse news, I reproduced my whole env as it was before, and
the freeze no longer happens. I noticed that some style or format

I couldn't live like this, so I did:
rm .config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc
rm .config/plasmashellrc
and after reboot it's all good. Will let you know if it comes back...
