I just realized I do use the normal setting on my 1440p screen. I don't use it
to get around DPI scaling. I would just like to have a Big Sur like scaling gap

It sounds like you may be using this setting as a way to work around not using
the global/per-screen scaling settings. That's not recommended. If your
screen's native DPI isn't ideal, please use the scaling settings,

The large width is btw optimal on my 1440p screen, but too large on my 1080p
screen at work. I frankly don’t see a way around adding more options here.
