I checked with two games on wayland and the effect is the same as on Xorg.
Instead of the black screen there is either a blank/transparent screen or
icons.

I checked it on Xorg/X11 and there is still no preview even when tabbing out of
a game but when you tab out of a game all windows preview change to icon only.
