ok, winston do you have an icon that looks like = (but with three lines) in
your window decoration?
If so, you can choose to remove it from systemsettings -> appearance -> window
decorations ->buttons

Holy Moly! After I removed dbus from my system, essentially wrecking it,
leaving my laptop unusable, and downloading deb by deb from another laptop, I
got it up again - wow

The option has been removed, the menu service hould automatically start when a
menu plasmoid or window button is added.
