Yes it is the problem. I downgrad to 1.6 and now it is working. This bug can be
closed or transferred to shared-mime-info.

1.7 broke rar support in many application, as introduced a new MIMEType for
that format. See for example:

I didn't have unrar but rar installed. I changed it for unrar but I have the
same problem. I would have been surprised if that was the cause since it used
to work with the previous version.
