I could narrow this down further. The default Qt5 windows installer does NOT
include openSSL due to legal reasons. Thus, all SSL requests fail. For
openstreetmap, https is used per default. Manually patching the OS

Installed Marble on desktop computer running also Windows 7 pro 64bit with same
results: no OSM ever.
