I wonder how that could make krita lag, because the log window is modal. You
can't do anything when it's open. Though I can imagine that a really long log
file is too much for Qt's QTextBrowser.

this seems to be related to loading the logs. i have a pretty long log that
dates back to august 2019 and while it's lagging it seems to not have loaded
most of the logs yet. the side scrollbar is much smaller
