Any progress made on this, I did a fresh install (kubuntu 16.04.01) and I still
see this problem, it's consistent, happens all this time.

I am using Kubuntu 16.04 LTS
$ which $SHELL
/bin/bash
$ uname -a

reset works for me on my LInux boxes using bash/zsh. What OS and shell are you
using?
