You could verify if the missing 64px icon is indeed the cause for the problem
by copying (as root) "48x48/places/mail-folder-inbox.png" to "64x64/places/".

I use oxygen!
There is an icon that is called inbox and is different, but I can't select it
for the inbox folder.
But I am noticing this in the list of the files:
/usr/share/icons/oxygen/base/48x48/pla
