Yes still unsolved but appears to be to do with cinnamon rather than

I just tested on Linux Mint 18 Xfce with the official packages, KDE Frameworks
5.18, Qt 5.5.1, Kdenlive 16.08.2 and everything works fine, Ctrl+Shift+f does

I cannot reproduce. The Fullscreen feature is a standard KDE function. The
problem might be caused by some older KDE libraries. Can you go in Kdenlive's
menu:
Help > About Kdenlive > Version

This does not work I have tried this and full screen still remains,
disabling full screen in the settings does not work either

Well, the shortcut for Fullscreen mode is, like described in the "Settings"
menu:
Ctrl+Shift+F
This will enable/disable the fullscreen mode. Is that what you were looking
for?
