For the record, the other software where I encounter this issue, Identity, is
based on GStreamer: https://gitlab.gnome.org/YaLTeR/identity/-/issues/16
I don't know if there a common base between Gwenview and GStreamer (

Thumbnails in Gwenview "folder view"/"grid" mode works.
Here is the console log when I try to open one .ARW file:
