I don't know where is the problem. The screenshot given by Maik is a preview
generated by the Qt image plugin. What's missing ?

digikam 8.2.0 pre-release have been rebuilt using last Qt 5.15.11 + KDE 5.110
frameworks. Installer is available at usual place :

Great, i didn't know that mine types could do that, as the tooltip doesn't
display that format. If imageMagick is a core component of digikam, then i
suggest you to specify this mime type in the tooltip as well
