The way it types is different: when typing a "dead" character in konsole
nothing shows up until the following vowel appears, ie. typing "'" shows
nothing until I press "a" creat

Just to add, the problem is present both in X11 and Wayland. Only with Kate,
Kwrite, and derivatives.

It seems to me. I asked and he was also running in wayland and the problem is
not there in X11. He used google chrome as an example of the program with
