As of Akregator 6.1.1 (at least for me):

It's definitely an issue with how akregator uses KIO (or maybe a bug in KIO
itself?), as the error message is from KIO::SlaveBase::send
(src/core/slavebase.cpp:1470).

This bug also still occurs when the floating panel is in the maximised window
